Tony Scott That's How I'm Living / The Chief (BCM) 1989

Classic hip house from Tony Scott-That's How I'm Living. Typical samples and sounds from back in the day. On the other side we have another good tune called 'The Chief' Much more laid back with a slick mellow rap. Classic memories.

Classic old skool rap music from RUN DMC.

King Bee Back By Dope Demand (1st Bass) 1990

I remember my friend selling me a copy of this for about £1 ($2) in 1993. Can't remember why at the time but looking back he must have been smoking crack. This is one of the finest from the old skool. An absolute classic rap/club tune.

Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock It Takes Two (Citybeat) 1988

Everybody knows this one. What a classic 12" this is. 'I'm not internationally known but I'm known to rock the microphone' I believe he proved this wrong after this MASSIVE tune! Samples the classic 70's hit 'Think' by Lyn Collins.

Eric B & Rakim Paid In Full (4th & Broadway) 1987

Rakim, arguably the best rapper of all time. His lyrics, flow, delivery and even accent are just so good. Years ahead of his time. This is Paid In Full and it is rammed with classic lyrics from start to finish. No one but Rakim can get away with telling us his favourite dish is fish. This is the Coldcut remix-seven minutes of madness. Apparently the man himself wasn't too keen on this, I'm surprised as it is great. Feautures Ofra Haza's vocals and also Dennis Edwards Don't Look Any Further bassline as well as that wicked breakbeat. CLASSIC.

Dubby remix of Ice T's classic New Jack Hustler. Remix from David Morales, I'm surprised how cheap you can pick this up as well.

MARRS Pump Up The Volume (4AD) 1987

If you were into hip hop since the Electro days as I was you were probably loving this when it came out. These were in the days when you just didn't hear 'cut up' records like this. The video was ace as well as far as I remember (nips over to Youtube..) Yes it is.. Classic tune, love the break at 2.32...

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel (Sugarhill) 1981

Having a sh*t night behind the decks? No one dancing? Stop that record that no one is listening to, play this one, go for a p*ss. When you come back everyone will be dancing..Grandmaster Flash with his ace cut up on Sugarhill. If you think P Diddy invented the remix then maybe you need to think again. Or stop being so f*cking stupid.

Stetsasonic Talkin' All That Jazz (Tommy Boy) 1988

Using a sample from Lonnie Liston Smith's 'Expansions' this was an awesome tune from Stetsasonic. Great lyrics about rap music sampling old jazz artists. This line baffles me however-

'...about how we sample, give an example'

Maybe he needs to read my first line... GREAT TUNE despite that no brainer question..

Stetsasonic Talkin' All That Jazz

Young MC Know How (Delicious Vinyl) 1988

Must be the biggest rap club tune ever. Slick rhymes from Young MC here and this earns its rightful place as a stonecold classic. Got CANED everywhere back in the early 90's.

Nomad feat Mc Mikee Freedom I Wanna Give You Devotion (XYZ) 1990

Is it house? Is it hip hop? I don't know and I don't care. It's a WICKED tune from back in the day. If anyone's not happy with that try the 'it's my blog and I'll put what I want on it' line...! Unforgettable female vocal on this and a most underrated rap performance. Add decent production to this and we end up with this great piece of vinyl. Go buy it!

Sugar Bear Don't Scandalise Mine (Champion) 1988

This was a killer tune back in the day and still is. Uses the wicked Talking Heads rhythm track and a faint bit of Rakim in the mix there if I'm not mistaken. Classic.
